There has been a good deal of interest lately in green education
programs, specifically Sustainable Business MBA programs. Some months
back, we published an article detailing a number of colleges who are
offering green MBAs. It remains one of our most widely read articles on
GreenBusinessOwner and one that produces more e-mail questions than any
feature we have ever published.
As we stated in that earlier article:
"There is a
demand in American business for professionals who understand the basic
concepts of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and the
triple bottom line approach to commerce. Non-profit and for-profit
entities alike have recognized the need for a sustainable approach to
their business operations and they seek capable personnel to help them
meet these challenges."
Recently, another Sustainable MBA program offered by Marylhurst
University in Portland Oregon came to our attention. Marylhurst is a
private, fully accredited Catholic university founded in 1893. A
potential student can rest assured that a degree from Marylhurst will
not have the stench of a for-profit diploma mill. This is a respected
brick and mortar university with an extensive history. They also happen
to offer a somewhat ground breaking on-line delivery Sustainable
Business MBA program.
The Marylhurst MBA student may choose concentrate their studies in
renewable energy, public policy, green development or natural and
organic resources. All content delivery is via the internet using Angel
software. The program can be completed in 18-24 months by taking one
class at a time. Tuition at this writing is $484 per credit hour, so it
is not cheap, but a student may live anywhere, maintain a career, and
uphold family commitments while completing the degree.
A GMAT score may be a requirement for application, though they do offer
an alternative route to acceptance for potential students with
experience.
Please note that Marylhurst is not a GreenBusinessOwner.com advertiser
and we are not an affiliate. We are not being compensated for this
announcement in any way. This is merely a program that appears to meet
the needs of a good number of our readers.
