You've Got To Have a Web Presence!
If you are serious about developing a green business, you must have a
website capable of providing information on your products or services
to the world as well as a method for your customers to purchase your
products. In fact, I think that it is reasonable to say that if you are
going to offer any product for sale or any service, you absolutely must
have a web presence.
SiteSell / SBI
Recently while doing some research on web hosting services, I
came across a website development, SEO and hosting service for
do-it-yourselfers that I am really impressed with. The company is
called SiteSell and their do-it-yourself website development tool is
called SiteBuildIt (SBI).
In terms of site authoring features, SiteSell is well thought out, but
what I am really impressed with is the suite of research and SEO tools
that are included. Even the $4,000 content management software that GreenBusinessOwner.com runs on lacks many of
the features that are included in SiteSell and for less than we spend on
web hosting for a year.
By far, the biggest challenge for new website
creators is in formatting their content and site for the best Search
Engine Optimization. Sitesell guides the webmaster through each step of
this process with helpful and very complete video tutorials.
SiteSell is not the best solution for all types of web pages or
internet services, however. For example, the content management
features are somewhat limited, and there is no provision yet for
controlled membership access or recurring billing services. But for the
vast majority of general information, business information, or internet
retailing businesses, SiteSell / SBI is a good solution at a very good
price.
